Patrick Lecaque, Ph.D., Director    
   

Patrick Lecaque is the Director of the Center for International Education  and Professor of French at Truman State University, the Liberal Arts and Science public institution for the State of Missouri.  A native of France, he studied Bulgarian, Russian, and Serbo-Croatian Languages and Civilizations at l’Ecole des Langues Orientales in Paris, France.  He obtained his Doctoral degree in Byzantine Art History at the Sorbonne University in 1985. Dr. Lecaque was a visiting professor at the University of Silesia in Poland, and at the University of Veliko Turnovo in Bulgaria, before teaching in the United States, first at Bowdoin College in Maine, then at Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University.  He received a Doctor Honoris Causa degree from the University of Veliko Turnovo in 2004.

Dr. Lecaque is an active member of several international education organizations.  He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the College Consortium for International Studies (C.C.I.S.), a member of the Board of the Bulgarian-American Society, and a member of MOCON: the Missouri Consortium for International Programs Board of Directors. 

       
Alci Arias, Assistant Director/Study Abroad
       

Alci Arias is the Assistant Director of the Center for International Education Abroad at Truman State University.  Ms. Arias is an experienced study abroad professional.  She manages the study abroad office, advises students and administers faculty-led, exchange and study abroad programs.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Psychology from Truman State University.  She is an active member of the College Consortium for International Studies (C.C.I.S.), and has been the Chair of the Annual Conference for many years.  Arias studied Spanish at the Centro Lingüístico CONVERSA in Costa Rica. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Middleburg Consortium for Transatlantic Studies, a member of MOCON: the Missouri Consortium for International Programs, and of the Council on International Educational Exchange (C.I.E.E.). 

     
Rosa Virginia Mendez, Study Abroad Advisor
 
 
Rosa Virginia Mendez is the Study Abroad Advisor for the Center for International Education  at Truman State University. She provides advice and support to students enrolled in the study abroad programs.  A native of Venezuela, she has lived in the United States since 1994. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business and Administration and is currently completing her thesis for a Master of Arts in International Education. She has over ten years of experience working in diverse educational environments. She has a passionate interest in using diversity, interculturality, and multiculturality to help individuals of various cultures to understand each other and work together.
