Course Title:  Europe in Transition

Credit Hours: 6

Dates of the Course: May 12 – 29, 2010

Instructors:  Dr. Jason Lin, Mrs. Marilyn Romine

Course Description: Europe in Transition is an international study program combining field trips related to the economic changes of the European Union, as well as cultural and historical aspects.  This year's program will take students to Amsterdam, The Netherlands; to Brussels, Belgium; to Paris, France; and to Venice, Florence, Sorrento and Rome, Italy.

Course Title:  Sacred Sites in Greece FIRST GROUP

Credit Hours: 6

Dates of the Course: May 12 – June 5, 2010

Instructors:  Dr. Steven Reschly, Dr. James Cianciola

Course Description: The course traces the shifts over several centuries among several varieties of religious worship, including goddess worship and Christianity, in the Greek world. Students focus on understanding sacred sites such as Delphi, Corinth, and Epidaurus within their archeological, economic, historical, military, and social context.

Course Title: Nursing Experience in the Philippines and Transcultural Experience in the Philippines

Credit Hours: 5

Dates of the Course: May 14- June 6, 2010

Instructors: Prof. Mariquit Hadwiger and Dr. Stephen Hadwiger

Course Description: This Nursing Experience course will be conducted in the Philippines and will focus on the nursing practice, health care systems, and baccalaureate nursing education in the Philippines. The Transcultural Experience in the Philippines will also be conducted in the Philippines and will focus on cross-cultural differences between the students' culture and the Philippine culture.  The specific context of culture will focus on communication patterns and health care systems in the Philippines.

Course Title: Summer Study Abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France

Credit Hours: 6

Dates of the Course: June 12- July 24, 2010

Instructor: Dr. Patrick Lobert

Course Description: This 6-week program provides instruction in French language, literature (emphasis on theater) and culture, and a Theater Workshop. The program is offered jointly by a Truman state University faculty member and the faculty of the Institute for American Universities in Aix-en-Provence, France. The program is aimed at French students who will have completed at least Intermediate French II or fourth semester French. In addition to taking courses at the Institute for American Universities, students will participate in everyday French life by living with a family, engaging in group cultural activities and taking 2 excursions to various parts of the Provence region.
